Default A few Odd Questions

Hi All,

Slowly getting ready for the move from the US to Australia. Wondering if anyone can help with these questions:

1. I have a new Weber charcoal grill I would like to take but I read that charcoal grills are not common (outlawed?) in Oz. Is that true and are charcoal briquettes readily available there?

2. Does anybody know what the standard size for an auto trailer hitch is in Australia? We have a hitch mounted family size bike rack great for an SUV but don't know if it will fit the Australian trailer receiver.

3. We most likely will not yet have our final address in Australia when our belongings ship out of the US. How did you all handle that? Can we give the shipping company an updated address while the container is in transit?

Thanks!

This sounds like a type of barbeque and Aussies love their BBQs! Not sure what type of charcoal is available since we haven't got into that (yet). Open fires are not allowed in some seasons and that depends on the area. At the moment in south Australia (and I think in Victoria too) there are no open fires allowed since it's a high fire risk season. See Welcome to the SA Country Fire Service Online for more info on open fires.

If you discuss this with the moving company they may be able to store the goods for you (get a quote since this could be expensive) or there may be storage companies near by where you can store your stuff. Not sure about giving a new address while in transit. We already had an address so it wasn't an issue.

Karen

I asked my husband about this and they seem to vary even between States here in Australia so there is no clear answer.
