Default Partner on 457 visa

Karen,

Quick question. I'm going out on my hubbys 457 visa. Would I be able to seek employment when i'm out there, or will I have to get my employers to get me a separate 457 visa?

Also how easy and quickly can we apply for PR upon entry with the 457 visa?

Hi QSfamily,

I moved this to a separate post so that you'll get more replies.

I don't know much about that visa (and I'm not an agent) so please check the terms and conditions of the visa (there is a link in the "PLEASE READ..." post towards the top of the forum).

Regards,
Karen

Hi. My husband is on a 457 visa too. You can work as soon as you get your visa in your passport. As for PR it was two years after you get here, don't think it has changed. Its very difficult to get another Visa, as you can see from one of my post, so make sure two years on the dot if you want to stay to go for PR. Its alot cheaper and easier if you get hubby's company to sponser you.

Same thing as QSfamily said. My hubby and our family are here on a 457 visa and I am eligible to work as well.
