Exclamation Unable to get referance on Company's letterhead

Hello All,
I am new to this forum, I would appreciate if u guys help me out with one of my major concern.
I am applying for skill assessment to ACS on 1st Dec 09.

1>My current employer is not giving me referance on letterhead, what can I do???

2>My reporting manager is ready to give the same on plain paper. Will ACS accept it as genuine?

3>What other docs n evidence do I need to provide to ACS to support my application.

Thanx in advance.
GJ

Hi Gaurav

welcome to the forum. the answers are as below

1. make a statutory declaration, search the forum for the same, a lot has been discussed in teh past, you wil get the format etc for it. in the stat dec you need to mention, you have provided all proofs, but can not give a referal from the company on a LH as you fear loosing your job if you mention the same to the higher management and that the LH is for company use only, the use of the same for personal purpose is not a company policy.

2. as long as you attach his business card, ID card copy and his contact details at the bottom of the letter, it is alright.

3. to support your application dig your bags, documents and give everything and anything that has your name or the company name on it. appointment letters, appraisal letter, confirmation letters, salary slips, bank statements, Tax returns, performance based certificates etc. since all of these have either the company seal or are on letterhead, they work as proof that you are not faking your experience and support your CV. other thn these all your educational proofs, like certificates, degree, marksheet/transcripts etc.

Look at it like this, you have to put your life in paper, how would someone believe u worked for abc, rst, xyz company, by checking and confirming for the proofs you provided, based on which you will be assessed.

search the forum for ACS and you wont believe what all you will get, the forum is a glodmine specially for AcS.

hope this helps
if you are stuck somewehre, feel free to give us a shout, we all hv gone thru the same and some one or the other will come back with a solution

cheers

Hey Anj, thanks a lot for that prompt responce.
Can I submit CDR (Competency Demonstration Report) to ACS?....... (Engineers australia demands it)
CDR (50-pager) will cover my complete story (Qualification,ICt subjects, project work, designation, profile, achievements, software skills etc) from college to present.

Hey Gourav,

You do not need to submit CDR to ACS, CDR is for Engineers Australia. If you are an engineer then for skills assessment you have to submit (a) IELTS results and (b) CDR to Engineers Australia that's it.

But if you are an IT professionals you have to apply to Australian Computer Society (ACS) for your skills assesment (PASA). You do not need to submit a CDR (Competency Demostration Report). ACS also does not require your IELTS score with your PASA application.

For ACS, you will have to submit the assessment form (download it from ACS website), highlighting your core competencies in relevant sections as requested in the Assessment form, your educational qualification, your experiences, project reports, detailed CV and CBOK (for RPL applicants only) and attach certified copies of supporting documents like degree certificates, experience letters, pay slips, promotion / appraisal letters etc.etc.

Hope this clarifies.
Best Regards,

Hi, Anj
I am confused about the payslips and bank statements as proofs- whether these docs need to be certified or not. I read somewhere that somebody called ACS and he was told there is no need for payslips and other bits to be certified. But i read here that payslips were sent in certified copies.

My pay slips are e-mailed with colored company logo (so I can print it in color), while my bank statements are in hard copies sent by the bank where my salary is deposited by the company.

1. Do I still need to have the pay slips certified?

2. Do I need to photocopy the bank statements (so I can keep the originals) and have these certified? If yes, can I just ask the bank to give me a certification letter and stamp all statements instead of going to the notary public? The statements are about 40 copies (for the past 3 years of work).

Will appreciate much your reply. Thanks.

Hi

If they are in color, just take prints and send them as is. as for bank statements, if you can send the originals, nothing like it, else get color xerox or scan them in color and take color print.

here in India the notarizing the documents is cheap so we got all of them certified, but i suppose if you do give color copies, you can do away with notarizing. also, if need be they will ask for it. infact if the bank can stamp these, that is good enough we sent bank statements for ACT sponsorship and we did give them just prints with bank stamp on it, not certified.

Thanks, Anj..I am reluctant in sending the originals to ACS, as these may be asked later for verification by a CO once we apply for the visa (hopefully getting a + response from ACS). I would then have to scan and print in color, then ask for the bank stamp.

Thanks again! You are always so prompt (and even patient) in your replies. This forum is really a big help. Somehow, you will be rewarded for your kindness.
