Info About Melbourne and Brisbane

Well after researching about a possible move to Australia i think its at least feasible for myself and my partner. I wanted to find out some more specific information about a couple of cities as these seem the most likely places for myself to find work.

I'd like to know lots about Melbourne and Brisbane, ideally form people who live their or know their stuff about the cities.

From what I’ve gathered, Melbourne is a pretty city that has changeable weather. Like Sydney although nowhere near as crowded/touristy. Brisbane is further north and has beaches nearby, obviously its warmer.

But I’d really like to get some insider information, and please feel free to share the bad points to. I'd like to gather as much info as possible. Things such as house prices, living costs, whats the chances of getting a place near/in the city, is it easy to commute if not. Anything like that would be great.

In addition I’m looking for a Nurse in one of these cities. My partner has some questions about what Nursing is like here compared to Lincoln, England. Obviously one can get an idea of nursing as a whole, but i imagine its different depending on city/state. If there is anyone willing to answer some specific questions that would be brilliant.
