Default Regarding addition of spouse's name on passport before sending documents to DIAC

Hi,

I have received my results from ACS recently and it was positive.
Now, I will have to submit all paperwork to DIAC.

I need one clarification before submitting the documentation.

I'm married more than 1 year ago, however, my passport was issued before marriage and marital status is "UNMARRIED", same case with my spouse's passport too.

We got our marriage registered though.

Can I go ahead and continue the current passports along with a copy of marriage certificate and other documents to DIAC?

(OR)

Should I apply for addition of spouse's name in our passports before submitting the docs?

Please clarify.

Hi Subbaram

congratulations for the positive assessment and welcome to the forum.

It doesnt matter if you have spouse's name or not, i will tell you what we did, we applied for the visa, applied for the pp changes at the same time and as and when we got the changes in the pp, we sent the new pp copies to DIAC. as long as you have your marriage certificate, its alright.

our agent told us it is alright to go ahead with the pp as is but we got it done anyways. if u wait for the inclusion of the spouses name in your pp it will take forever to file your visa application. go right ahead and file it

cheers

Hi Anj,

Thanks for your quick reply.
I wish there would not be any issues with DIAC regarding this. My agent was suggesting to get the names added on the passports, which, I thought was not really necessary. I will talk to my agent and explain her.
By the way, when did you move to Oz?

i am yet to get my visa. applied in Sept 08 for 175, got state sponsorhsip form ACT in sept 09, changed to 176 in sept itself. (non CSL, non MODL).

there are others here who have their status as unmarried, have their married cert and had no issue with the visa. you can apply for the visa now and go for the name change if you feel you want to get it done. You can always send the new pp copy post applying. Though it is a day's job to get the changes done but you never know, if u feel you can get it done in a day thn go for it. I remember i asked the same thing when i was getting it done an dmost of the people told me they dont hv spouse name in teh pp.
