Surfing locally is a very big sport., but the metro area only offers regular shore breaks ; for the best breaks kids drive 3-4 hours south to margaret-river (biggg' stuff = if you want to be seriously scared) remember that we have what is called the sea' breeze' (south-westerly-wind) and it can scream in at 10-15-20-25 knots and more., so the same people whose surfing has been blown out... go kite-surfing., people come from all over the world to kite surf at out local beaches (the only warm water ocean current in the southern hemesphere) kite surfing has mostly displaced wind-surfing these days - John Scarborough Beach WA = perhaps see also (it may contribute something) ? brisbane or perth?
