Default If I won the lottery........................

Hi all, it's inevitable that me and my family end up in Australia no matter what - even if i won the lottery (no matter the amount) we would still go to Oz but i don't think i would go to Brisbane, instead i would buy a huge plot of land in Adelaide and build my own house (yes ok a mansion) - we can all dream!

Maybe we would all move on to Figi or somewhere else alike eventually, but Oz is the place for us!!!

Would it change your mind and still go to Oz if at the last minute you won millions?

I would still stay in Australia. Invest the majority of the money (shares and property) and probably buy a beach house somewhere as well. And there would be a donation to one of our local charities.

Regards,
Karen

Mmm sounds lovely too; a beach house (maybe my own beach sound better) oh and it goes without saying - giving to charities!

I quite fancy helping out as far as the aboriginals are concerned - i watched a programme the other night about the history of all that, called 'welcome to Australia' - it was absolutely shameful and shocking - more needs to be done to help these people, it's disgraceful!

There is an island for sale at the moment since it was in the Financial Review this week. Unfortunately it didn't give a price but it's off Queensland somewhere I think. Maybe that's more your style It sounds good to me.

It's not just the aboriginals either, it's the poorer classes (all colours). I was at a Rotary meeting last night and met a local Principle and the figures he showed us for life expectancy, jobs, health and child abuse (not just sexual) were appalling. Australia likes to think of itself as egalitarian but there are lower classes here and they are suffering. The local Principle is doing some amazing things with this local school and we are going to be learning more soon. The strange this is that aboriginals (especially if they are not around) are not really talked about unless it's in a negative context (drink has had to be banned in town where they live recently due to drink problems), but maybe that will change after the apology to them in a week or so.

Regards,
Karen
