Hi,

U have to register ur marriage in register office, but getting marriage certificate won't take more than 2 days (if it is TamilNadu), I don't know about other places.

Only ur IELTS report is required while applying for DIAC, ur wife can write it even later.

Oh great rangola1... I am also from Tamil Nadu so it is a gud news tht it wont take months to get the certificate. I feel it would be better to ask my husband also to take IELTS along with me so tht we can finish the work...

i took the ielts with my husband, i feel its better if its done and over with. as for the marriage, why dont u contact the regional registration office and ask around how long it takes. ours was in gurgaon, so it wasn't easy, the registrar would come at 1pm, go for lunch from 1.30-3, then back for personal meetings. we visited the place a dozen times, after first 3-4 visits we decided to use an agent who took 13k from us and later asked for 2 more. so that bit was frustrating too. they asked for affidavits from parents from each side and they had to be present as well, plus two more witnesses, proofs of wedding like wedding pic, wedding venue invoice, letter from the priest, our address proofs like voters ID card, ration card etc etc.

We gave only the marriage invitation and some other documents like passport copy, education proof. Applied on Friday, myself and my wife went register office and signed in front of registrar.
got the certificate on Monday morning. Gave around Rs.2000

will try to go to the registrar office and would clarify the doubt.. Started to look into filling the main applicaion.. I am getting lots of doubts.. Will consolidate and post all together...

Anj, should I use only PDF to post my scanned documents or can I also use Microsoft word to consolidate and paste them together into one document.

i suppose pdf is better. why dont u want to make a pdf? u can make a pdf and along with that make a cover letter that can have an index stating which page has what.. that would be better. had word been an option, i am sure my agent would have suggested the same. we applied for ACT sponsorship a while ago, sent them jpgs, in no time i got an email form them asking us to put convert jogs in one pdf and mail them again. i guess because word document can be edited, they dont prefer doc file.
