Unhappy help - medical advice

hi

I need some advice and hope there is some one who can give me an answer to this :

My husband had to go to hospital today and was told he has a d.v.t in his leg which he will need to be on medication for 6 months to be sure it has gone

We are at the point of submitting our documents to apply to do the skills assessment - is this d.v.t going to mean he will fail a medical? He is fine in himself and will go to work now etc - just has to careful with cuts etc because he will be on blood thinning medication.

we are applying for a 176 state nominated visa? I am so worried that all our plans for a future in Australia will be over...... we are not sure what the medical entails and what types of problems and medical history can result in not passing the medical.

thanks for your help

Hi Alaina,

Welcome to the forum.

Glad to hear that your husband is recovering well from dvt.

I'm not sure where you will stand now and this is probably a question for a migration agent since they may know more what the health requirements are but there is also Australian Immigration Fact Sheet 22. The Health Requirement.

If he's only going to be on medication for 6 months and there will not be a long term drain on the Australian health service then it may be okay.

Good luck,
Karen

Hello
I hope your husband is feeling better soon i found some information on DVT there is the link Deep vein thrombosis - DVT blood clot symptoms and treatment

As Kaiz said as long as your husband is fit and able to work and earn a living then it should be fine i think it will only cause a problem if he might need assistance and it would cost the Australian government money

I would have a chat with his doctor and may be even ring one of the doctors who do the medicals for Australia and ask their advice it might mean they will want a letter from the consultant looking after your husband to say he is recovering well and is expected to make a full recovery just get him to do every thing the doctors tell him my husband has asthma and its not a problem and i know another girl that is diabetic and she had no problems either. might make the medical more complicated with waiting on doctors to write letter's for you but hopefully it will be ok in the end.
good luck

Thank you for all your advice it is reassuring to hear from some one else that they think the medical should be fine - I have sent an email to our agent, hopefully they will confirm his medical should be ok.

I am sure you will agree - when you put so much time and effort into your visa application, it really 'rocks' you when when something unexpected happens like this.

It is so good to have help and advice from people who have either done it already or who are in a similar situation to you. I dont think family and friends understand the same.

thanks again

hi

just heard back from the agent - they do not think there will be a problem with the medical I suppose there will be more 'ups and downs' before we get a visa but glad this one is out of the way.

Now we are ready to get our docs certified and send to apply for paul's Vettassess skills test in bricklaying...... I think the February test was cancelled?! so hopefully he will get on the next which is due in April.....and then on to apply for State Nomination 176 visa (Perth/Western Australia we think).

thanks again for you help.
