Default Moving To Aus Where Should I Head???

Hi i am thinking about moving out to Aus this summer with my girlfriend and daughter. I have been talking to a few companies mostly in Melbourne and Sydney who are willing to sponsor me on a 457 visa to go over,so it looks like either of of these will be my likely destination.

Problem is im not really sure which one i would prefer ive done a bit of research and spoke to a few people i know who have been over and the consensus is pretty split.

The plan is to go over to AUS in April meet employers and look for an apartment (7 days in Sydney and 7 Days in Melbourne) can anyone suggest any places to look to live while im there. I have scoured the internet for apartments to rent but without knowing what each area is like its quite difficult. Ideally i would like to be within close proximity to beach and close commuting distance to the city. I have a budget of around £450 a week what would i be able to get for this and what areas??

Thanks

Hi Topperstusk,

Welcome to the forum.

If you do a search for Sydney in this forum one member posted where they liked around Sydney and that may help.

I don't know either areas that well to be able to advise.

Regards,
Karen

That's okay. I do like Melbourne and have friends that live in Collingwood and they love that area.

Melbourne was just too big for us which is why we moved somewhere a lot smaller (25,000 people).

Regards,
Karen

Hi KAZ101,
Lived in Adelaide for a short time in 2005 in Glenelg, was just me and my wife.We didnt settle and returned, but have decided that we made a mistake by coming back and are returning in May. We now have a baby boy 8 months old and are looking for advice on where to live. Some places we visited like christies beech seemed very quite, not many people. We liked glenelg and are wondering are there other areas similar ie near the beech and also a bit lively. Also what are the areas to avoid. Thanks

Hi Derek,

Although I'm in South Australia I'm not in Adelaide - I'm in Mount Gambier which is down in the SE of South Australia. You've spent more time in Adelaide than I have so I can't help you with the areas there.

Regards,
Karen
