Default paramedic or police

hi

My husband and daughter have a ten year plan... hopefully less than ten years but I'm willing to wait if necessary.

My husband has started to look for a new job, he's working in care at the moment and his job description is on the SOL list but he wants a different career before we move.

My question is...

Are police and paramedic's both entitled to skilled visas? I've searched for days online but can’t come up with anything. He's not sure which he wants to go for and this could be the decider.

thanks in advance
The Martins

Hi TMs:

Both are on the SOL, but Paramedic is a 40 point application and Police officer is N/A and requires a sponsoring police force. Since Police force do not sponsor unless they have a need they can't fill locally it is probably better to get a Paramedic qualification. That way you know that it's 40 points and you can make an independent PR application.

If he is willing to retrain will he consider anything on the CSL list (they get priority processing):
