She will probably adapt more quickly than you do. She'll go to school, get settled, make friends, and soon be able to tell you how things go. With an Aussie accent, of course.

I don't have children, but I've seen kids adapt to living in the States, and it is absolutely amazing. I do know some people whose children had trouble when they moved to Germany from the US, but it only lasted a few months, and they didn't want to come back when the assignment was over.

Dear Cassandra
35 years ago I was the uprooted daughter (ten pound pom emigration)! I have vivid memories of the excitement, the newness and my parents worrying (which semed unnecessary to me, it was all great fun). I am now a naturalised Aussie & have 4 great Aussie kids who are all doing fantastically. This is the greatest country in the world and I will be forever grateful that my parents were brave enough to give me such a wonderful life. We settled in Adelaide South Australia, not as crowded as some of the other cities. Ive travelled all over oz, now living in a small country town on the Murray River in SA. Still prefer this state to the others , QLD a bit humid, Vic & Tas a bit cold , WA a bit isolated. But Anywhere you decide to settle will be wonderful . Best of luck, I reckon your daughter will love you for it.
