Default fast-track question

Hello,

I take great comfort in finding so many people with the same questions!

Not sure if anybody has been watching the wanted down under programme but it says at the start if you are skilled in one of the jobs in demand then you can be fast-tracked to Oz? Is this true? The agent we've been talking to says it'll take 12-15months and is not likely to be any quicker?

or, is 12-15months a good timescale?

Am off to work now where I will be daydreaming of BBQ's and beach strolls...

Kat

Hi Kat,

We were skilled independents and not on the demand list and it took us 2 years.

If you check timeline you can search for visas on MODL and those not on MODL and see how long the visas took.

Regards,
Karen

Default Timeline & Melbourne Q

Thanks,

I've had a look, will definitely be using that (timeline) when the time comes. We have our consultation in 2 weeks, all very exciting.

Does anybody know of any family friendly Melbourne suburbs? Also, is the weather that changeable there? I've done some research that suggests it only gets as cold as April here, which isn't too bad, the rainfall also appears alot less, can anyone confirm what the weather is actually like?

Thanks in advance

Kat

The fastest way is to be on the Skills list and to get an employer in Oz to offer you a job. I have a friend who did this and he was out there within 4 months of going to the interview in the UK. Employers obviously won't wait 15 months to get their employee, so I suspect that the Australian Govt have some sort of special arrangement with business to fast track people who have been offered something.

We were in Melbourne last year in May, it did rain a bit but it wasnt cold (not that a few days visit is much to make a judgment on!). Have been doing alot of research on Melbourne areas too as we hope to move there this year, its quite tough because there are so many nice areas. Most of our potential choices seem to hinge around how easy it is to commute into the city, Melbourne's traffic is not great. If commuting is not going to be an issue then you can head 2 hours either side of Melbourne along the coast and there are some really great little towns (well we drove along the coast from Sydney to Adelaide and it certainly was one of the nicest stretches I remember).
