Hi Guys,
I want to apply for Visa 175. I have overall 9 Years of IT experince (UNIX Administrator), which is coming in MODL (And may be in CSL too). I completed my graduation, B.Sc. (Zoology, Botony and Chemistry) in 1998 and after that I joined my job in July 2000, which was different from my work.
My immigration consultant says "In order to get positive assessment from the ACS, ACS usually requires the applicant to have obtained degree that directly relates to the occupation you intend to nominate. (eg Bachelor of Science in IT).You should first contact ACS and confirm whether they would accept your professional experience as satisfactory skills in the light of skills assessment for VISA applications"
I have two questions now:
1- If this is true, can't I get opportunity to apply for Visa-175 ?
2- Is RPL a way out as alternate ?
Please guide, I am confused, if I should apply or not.

Cheers
Abhishek

Hi Abishek:

You can certainly go the RPL route, many people who have degrees outside of Computer degrees go this way. It basically means much more detail about the work you do to convince the ACS that your work experience is valid to meet the credentials of a degree and meet the specialisation (i.e. UNIX admin). ACS will make the decision whether you get MODL only or MODL+CSL depending on their evaluation of your RPL documents.

So yes, you can go for 175 and go for RPL.

Please do a search on the forum for ACS RPL as there are many detailed posts about how its done and one kind member even put up documents.

Good luck :)
