It is expensive, read the previous posts please>???? It is more expensive than all other countries in the world. We have a problem with the fact computers and all electrical are charged at at 50-200% premium to the rest of the world. We use different electrical power and everything is different. check and do your research before coming.

That leads one more crucial questions, If I bring my home appliances from India. What about electrical plug or wiring in Australia? Do they support that? As anyone from India as done this before, please share your experience. I want to try and bring my fridge, microwave & washing machine.

get universal plugs from there, dont get the samsonite ones, they are very expensive, we got ours from there, the samsonite one came for 1200 bux and the swiss army ones came for 350 bux each.. here you do get them from Indian stores (2$ i think)

HI fellow expats.

I have been offered a job in melbourne, im single , professional.....i would make roughly around AUD 5k pm net. Since the cost of living is on the increase, is it enough to live comfortably?

Anyone with the latest fig for Melbourne? Also i would not be cooking much, eating out mostly, how expensive would that be?

Cheers

What's the job? $75 is reasonable but not a huge amount and not if you like to eat out every day. Eating out is expensive in australia. Are you alone? Will there be another income?

Traveling for short meetings etc or FIFO? We were paying for 2 adults and a teeny about $60-$80 for a meal but we were seeking out cheap & cheerful places. If you like & want better food it will obviously cost a lot more. You may be ok if its just you to take care of, depends on what type of accomodation you want?
The car being on them is good. Any other allowances for accomodation etc?

Ok so bonus health insurance would make it worth it as not many employers offer it and its often needed if you don't want to wait, want to pay less tax and don't get stung when you're old if you're still in Australia. It can be quite costly without it and you'll need it when overseas
