that is not the case in Australia so I am not sure why you think it relevant to this thread.

You quote the extreme case, if you have only $10 to spend in a day, no point you choose to migrate, must well stay in your original country.

Hi RSR410

if you share accommodation and for leading simplified life, expenses could be more or less 2000 aud in adelaide. Last year i was paying 200/w for one private room in shared house including all utilities. kitchen expenses was not more than 500 aud.

Default Cost of Living In Brisbane

Hi Karen,

We currently live in Brisbane and have been here for 6 years since moving from the UK. Cost of living has gradually gone up over our time here, especially if you factor in the exchange rate to the pound (tip - the sooner you stop converting back to your currency of origin the better)! Current costs for us in a 4 bed house in the suburbs of Brisbane are as follows:

Electricity - $500 per quarter (more in summer - aircon!)
Water - $300 per quarter
Groceries - c$200 per week (family of 4)
Fuel - $30 a week (half a tank in our Toyota Corolla)
Commute - $50 per week for commute to CBD from zone 3 (10 trips)

Hope that helps for anyone trying to price up coming over here. In summary, its not cheap but well worth it!

Hi

Looks like I will be offered a position in Perth, WA. But before I nod for this, I want you guys to guide me with some crucial information which will make my life easy

We are family of 4 (Myself, Wife, 4 Yr Old boy & 3 months old girl). Expected Salary is around 90k/PA before taxes and other deductions which I'm still trying to understand.

I have gone through most of the threads, thanks for sharing all those information. I understand there as been sea of change in terms of cost of living increase in Australia. Any information which is more up to date will be useful to take wise decisions.

Please help me understand this:

2 Bed Rental cost per week:

Suggested places for rental in & around perth CBD as my office is situated there.

Is Perth well connected by local public transportation?

Gas / Electricity cost?

Internet / Phone connection?

Monthly groceries expenses for a family of 4?

Any localities which as got Indian expats.....something like little india in Singapore. Reason being, you get good indian stores / restaurants around those places.

Cost for Indian channels ? Do we get them as part of any package?

We will be eating out twice a month or so, Eating out for 4? Eating out for 4 in Indian restaurant ?

For my kid of 4, should I opt for public school or private. I understand there is huge cost associated with private schools, apart from that what are other differences.

How long does it take to get your driving license?

Is there anything else that I'm missing ?

Thanks once again.

JK

Hi
I live in Fremantle near to Perth.
Perth is probably the most expensive in Australia and is as expensive if not so in some respects than large cities like London..!
I hope you have got yourself and your family a good salary.
Rentals are at a premium and I think you might find the cost of renting in or close to the CBD quite expensive.
Try Real Estate, Property, Land and Homes for Sale, lease and rent - realestate.com.au and check out the rental prices.
Cheers
