I've got a friend from Oz staying with us at the moment and he was talking about things that we have in the UK that he can't find in Australia... So it got me thinking..

What do you miss? what gadgets, gizmos, products do you miss from the UK that you can't find in Australia?

#1 is most people books is food items (i.e. crisps, sauces, curries, etc.). I think this question comes up regularly and always gets a lively response.

I also miss pricing (USA) as AU pricing is the pits (I've been calling it Australian Gouge Pricing for the last 6 yrs).

I'm not there yet, but I know that I'm gonna miss the internet connection here in Singapore! For a flat fee, there's no UL/DL quotas! And the Wi-Fi!

That's why one of my main concerns is being connected to the world! Haha..

And maybe the convenience that everything is just a train/bus away...

Food may not be such a big issue for me, cos I'm not a foodie, nor am I picky.

Hi Twinkle-Toes:

I have a few SIN/MAL expats in my office and it's the convenience they miss most, then the prices for food are shocking compared to SIN. However the prices for cars should be a relief (compared to SIN at least).

Public transport in no city of AU is as good as SIN everyday. You'll miss that.

The Internet don't worry too much about UL/DL quotas. Most people don't break them unless downloading huge video files. Even then you have peak and off-peak quotas which let you do that sort of thing with a bit of scheduling.

Unlimited broadband!

Kerrang (music channel on Sky)

Can't think of anything else offhand....you can get everything here really (sometimes cheaper, sometimes more expensive....but it's here).

We're with iiNet.....trying to get hubby to change to your carrier (taken your recommendation on a recent thread). ATM we're on 15 peak, 25 off peak. It really isn't enough, and our boys have dramatically curtailed their downloading since being here as it is!

I understand that you need to sign up broadband for a couple of years. So, if you are renting places, I wonder how we can go around that.

I know that Aussie has broadband stick that has a limit of download....

I agree that convience is an issue but with careful planning, we can reduce some of these inconvience...
