Default getting skilled migrant visa with criminal record

HI,

I am German national; I am applying for skilled migrant visa,
2 years ago I worked in France for 6 months, when I was in France I was convicted and fined for shoplifting.
Since I only stayed for 6 months I need not have to get police clearance from France.

I do not want o mention about my conviction in my visa application.

How the immigration officers know about my conviction if I do not mention in my visa application?

regards,
dun

Hi there,

Well if you want to take the risk then don't declare it. Generally speaking, you'll only come into difficulties if you've had a custodial sentence. I don't know how the police check for criminal offences but there may be a possibility that it could come up, even without you declaring it. Just because you don't put it on your form doesn't mean that it might not register when they do a search.

Hopefully someone else might be able to give you a more definitive answer.

Dolly
