Default medicals

has anyone out there just used their normal gp for their medical checks requested by the australian immigration? obviously this will save you money but not sure if it is an accepted way. from what i can gather most times you are asked to attend a private clinic, particulary if you use an agent.
we want to start the process but research is the key.
thanks

Hi Ashmalog,

We were actually given a list of clinics that could do the medicals, and only those in the list were acceptable as far as I know. So we couldn't go to our local GP and have it done.

Regards,
Karen

Hello,
there are appointed panel doctors that can only do the medicals, so unfortunately you cant use your gp were abouts are you living we are in ireland and found a doctor in tullamore they have a family rate for medicals so thats 300 euro and then you have to get chest x rays they are about 75 euro each
there is 5 of us so not a bad price but we rang around a few to get the best deal some were very expensive . Health Requirements for Visa Applicants

i don't know much about Perth or Melbourne as we are moving to queensland but i know there are a few here there already who will fill you in there

good luck with it all

Hi David,

Sorry I can't remember the cost of the medicals since we had ours done nearly 4 years ago. You get sent a list of clinics and if the price isn't on there then you can ring up and check the price. Our medicals were done in Hitchin, Hertfordshire since that was the closest to us when we were living just North of London.

Regards,
Karen

my friend with a family of 5 paid close to £900 for their medicals in london. you can check the immigration website and find panel doctors who you can then ring. i found out today that medicals aren't required until you are 10mths into the process, according to my agent.

I don't know whether it depends on the visa but we were definitely told when to have our medicals done, when to get police checks etc.

I know some people try to do them ahead of time but that isn't advised on the website.

Here is the link to the panel doctors in the UK

Karen
