Default advice needed before moving on.

HI All here,
I m so much glad when i found this forum recently.
having my PR visa approved 2 years back, but i have never been put in so much attention of moving to melbourne until recently, my position in the company has been made redundant, sadly.
and thing starts to strike myself to think seriously of moving on.
i know it could be intimidating move especially this climate, i m curious to know if anyone kind enough to put in some advice/recommendation .

1. does any new migrants to OZ here, while search for career/job, anyone do casual job? in what sort of ? (i need to know at least this could be the least thing i could do before landing a job, at least surviving through).
2. i m from Sales & marketing in IT&T, i am not submit in my CV to any company from offshore yet, reading from some of the advices in the forum that it is recommended to submit when in OZ. anyone agree with this ?

i appreciate for the input. Thanks.

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum.

Congratulations on getting your visa. When did you validate? Is there any reason why you've left it so long between getting your visa and wanting to move over? (sorry, just being nosey ).

1. Can't really help you on the casual work

2. A week or so before you arrive here it's worth ringing some agencies and emailing them your resume. They can then arrange interviews for you for when you arrive. Also, send your resume directly to companies as well.

thanks, dolly.
i make my first entry 2007 and spent 2 weeks in melbourne. after all, work commitment kept me busy and haven't put in a serious thought until recently.
i also found out the necessity to stay 2 years in order to retain the RRV. just don't feel like to lose back the PR after all.

anyone else may have any advices on the surviving through while hunting job in melbourne ?

I am not there, waiting for my visa but from what I have heard, from my friends that is, they did retail job, another friend started working from home (as customer care exec and took calls for 4 hours everyday), another friend worked in HR on part time basis, another friend worked with a property agent, showing people houses on rent.. so on and forth

Do keep us posted on how things go for u.
