Hiya all,

Tried to check if there was a thread already open but couldn't see one so thought I'll ask all the expats in OZ a simple question.

Once you got there what did you wish you'd packed either in shipment or suitcase but didn't beacuse you thought you wouldn't need it. There's many of us that hopefully will be getting ready to decide what to bring or leave behind so any help and advice would be greatly appreciated and I'm sure it'll be an interesting read.

xx Satty

A waterproof jacket and an umberella!!!!!!!!!!!
On a serious note.Should have put original certificates not copies in my case, and put all my info onto a memory stick.
It would have made it easier for me for getting my Aussie C.V sorted out.

I carried all our original certificates with me in my hand luggage - I held on to that bag as if my life depended on it!!!

SatNav! That's what you need when you first arrive!

Gave me the confidence to drive anywhere and know that I couldn't get lost. When you first arrive you have no familiar references, no place names that you know, everything is new and confusing. So, if you can, when you first arrive splash out and buy one.

Thanks Dolly,

What is the average price for one and does it cover all of Aus. Also are they easy like the UK's Tom Tom to use.

We bought a Tom Tom here from Goodguys and it's absolutely fantastic. I love it. We bought a Kluger last year which has satnav already and it's not a patch on the Tom Tom.

Have a squizz on their website. I think we paid around $600.
