How if life better in Brisbane than the UK?

Hi everyone.
We have just sold our house and are hoping to be in the Redland / Bayside area of Brisbane for November 09. We are pretty nervous and are wondering if the recession has hit the area and if it is as bad as the UK? How has life improved over there compared to the UK? We have a good standard of living here at the moment and hope we are doing the right thing by emigrating. We visited the city in April 08 and loved it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Redland Bay area is beautiful. In terms of recession, Australia has not been hit very hard and property prices have not really lowered at all. Cost of living is quite high as food, petrol etc have increased. If you have 2 incomes and no day care to pay for then you will be more than fine.
