What kind of visa would you come on? PR before you get here or PR after you are here (what would you be one while you are here before PR)?

Please see the Sticky Posts for the visa options.

No, after 1 yr you can't get PR, after 2 yrs it's possible. But usually the degrees are Bachelors (3 or 4 yrs study) and Masters (2 yrs study after Bachelors). So I don't believe there are PR paths for students within just (2) yrs. But I would ask others to comment on this specific point, especially those who are coming to study in AU and have researched this last point more thoroughly.

I have a vague recollection (and it is vague) that you can apply for PR after your course finishes.

The vague bit come in where I think if you apply within 6 months of your course finishing there's some sort of 'concession' whereby you don't need to show work experience).

Have a look at this link: Skilled – Independent (Residence) visa (subclass 885)
