Default What Next: 175 granted

Hi Guys great news visa 175 granted today

I am obviously happy, however am confused, do i have to take our passports to london to get them stamped or is my grant letter sufficent to travel to oz, the following paragraph seems to contradict itself, can anyone help me cheers.

"Evidence of your visa
It is recommended that all visa holders obtain evidence of their visa in their current passport.
They can have evidence of their visa placed into their passport at any of the department’s offshore
offices with visa evidencing facilities. Details of addresses and opening times for these overseas
offices can be found at - Contact Us
Please note that a copy of this letter is sufficient for visa evidencing purposes.
IMPORTANT - Visa holders should allow at least five working days after presenting their
passport to a departmental office for the evidencing process to be completed."

Does this mean i have to take my passport to London or is taking this letter with me on my validation trip adequate, im confused and excited lol?

I just got mine as well. My agent sent me a letter with information on what to do next but it's in pdf and won't let me copy/paste. It says to send it to the Visa Evidncing Unit in London:

Visa Evidencing Unit
Migration Branch
Australia High Commission
Strand London WC2B 4LA

Send by registered post (special delivery silver pouch recommended for citizens in UK) and that it takes about 3 days to turn around. You need:

-2 unused pages in passport
-cover letter stating what you request
-contact details
-copy of grant letter
-pre-aid self addressed silver pouch for return (keep number off that for tracking purposes of return)

I think that covers it. You can always contact the Evidencing office to double check.

Congratulations

It's a great feeling isn't it!

You won't be able to stay in Australia (or validate) if you don't have the magic sticker in your passport.

Do as RachelK suggested - send your passports to Australia House, and this will be for whoever was named on your application.

My husband worked in London so he was able to drop them off and then we both went to pick them up.....that was an incredible highlight to be able to pick them up personally.

Good luck MDB,
Dolly

Congratulations

I think our agent took care of that for us (it was too long ago for me to remember now). The part I do remember is jumping up and down in the hallway when I opened the letter saying that we'd been approved.

Celebrate your approval - and now the adventure really begins

Hi:

Send it in to get "The most expensive sticker in the world"

Congratulations

This is shaping up to a very good week in grants (that's 5-6 now in the last 2 days).

BTW, if you have any trip planned to any city with a AU embassy/consulate you can also get your sticker there as well. This is exactly what I did as I received my letter while I was travelling and was able to go to a different office to get the sticker (takes all of 5 mins for them to see the letter and print out and stick it in your passport).

Good luck

Hi the MDB,

It took about a week for them to do the deed....but it will vary depending on how busy they are.
