Default happy new year to everybody, new to this and in the early stages

Happy new year to one and all, I live in Edinburgh in Bonnie Scotland but recently the wife and I have decided that finally we will bitr the bullet and go, I think you can talk your self out of it if yo want to. I have done the on-line points test and see to pass by just 10 points, hopefully that is enough.
I have had e-mail correspondence with two agent, one is a girl who posts on this forum called Liana and I am taking it from there. I had to sell my house a couple of years ago because of an NHS op which was botched uo and prevented me earning for 10 months, so i dont have a house to sell to raise shed loads of cash, but thats not a deterrant, just makes me more determined. hopeing to be able to ask questions as they come up,I have noticed that almost everyone gets answer they are looking for.
Hopeing to head to the Melbourne area, as I believe thats where the majority of the jobs in "Printing" are, anyone confirm?

Best Regards

Richard

Hi Richard,
Sorry I don't know about printing jobs but I just wanted to wish you luck. We are from West Lothian and are heading out to the Melbourne, hopefully in March. It is a fantastic place to go and I wouldn't worry about not having a house to sell. We have a few friends who went out with hardly anything, are still there years later and still love it!

Welcome Richard.

I don't know about printing jobs either but it may be worth looking at
JobServe Homepage or SEEK - Australia's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site.

Are there any printing associations in Australia that you can check with?

Melbourne is a lovely place although I only tend to go there for conferences and to see friends.

Regards,
Karen

Hi Karen
Many thanks for the info, appears there is no shortage which is great news, can you tell me if when I qualify based on a specific skill, I am obligated to work in that field?
Thanks
Richard

Hi Richard,
I'm not an agent, just someone who has been through the process myself, so an agent may be able to advise based on the visa. When we got our skilled independent visa it's assumed that we will work in those fields (IT for me and gardening for my husband). However I'm working my online business and Adrian is now a trainee used car salesman so with the visa we had there was no obligation to stay within that field.

Regards,
Karen

hi richard.

ignore my last emails then, my migration visa agent used to work for the australian immigration dept and so knows all the short cuts, what i shall do is pass your email onto her and she can liase with you and give you costings, i personally think she is very cheap and would be the best person to use becaues of her background. speak soon,

michelle ritchie
