Cool Has anyone returned to uk from oz and wants to go back to oz?

We returned from Oz the UK in January2008. Thinking it was the sensible think to do unfortunately on arrival I realised it was totally the wrong decision and have spent every day wishing I could go back. As time goes by it seems to be getting worse we can't afford to buy a home, we can't get well paid jobs, we can't get any recognition for the experience we have gained I am a paediatric nurse, Australia took all my experience into account when employing me, the UK will only take into account work in the NHS. Some employers have offered me work at the very bottom of the pay scale as I have been out of the NHS for 4 years. It is so rubbish I have worked as a nurse for 10 years, so dissapointed and let down with the NHS. It really is know wonder staff are leaving rapidly. However, has anybody felt like this and if so what did they do? We have children, some didn't want to come back and would happily go back tomorow. Any suggestions?

hi ,
Can I ask what made you decide to come back to the UK? I am a nurse and have an excellent cpn post here, however am starting on a lower band in Oz, but thats not an issue as it's a start. however we are all worried as we have 3 small boys if we are doing the right thing emigrating as we have a good life here etc. However we feel Oz wil offer a much better lifestyle for the kids, hence we have visas etc and have been twice on a rekki's and plan to move in Nov. Its a massive step and I have it in my head that if we go, there is no coming back as we'd never have the lifestyle we had before we left. I suppose you need to look at why you returned and if you are happier now than you were in Oz. Once you return to the NHS I am sure you will work your way up again.
Good luck
Jan

friends of ours did exactly that, they went back to oz after returning home. And loved it. they said their friends had all moved on in the uk since they had been away.

What made you return to the UK? Something obviously didn't feel right for you in Oz, to make you catch a flight home?

Hi there,

We dont know what made you come back to the UK but it must have been something serious to make such a drastic move,

all I can offer is that you only get one kick at this game, have a vote with the family and base your decision on that but maybe set some parameters and goals, it can only be your decision and I am sure you will know what is right

good luck with what ever you decide

There are a lot of Ping Pong Poms. I know several people that have done exactly that - moved over, thought it wasn't for them, moved back to the UK only to realise that they felt Australia was where they really wanted to be.

It's costly (both financially and emotionally) but you need to be where you feel the happiest.
