Talking Been a while!!!

hi everyone!!

It's been nearly 5 months since i've logged onto here!! Mad! Though I have been taking a look now and then, especially when I get an e-mail to say i'm being missed - lovely!!

Basically it's been so long because we were'nt sure whether we were going to be able to emigrate at all - it all depended on my OH being accepted for Voluntary Redundancy's happening in his bank here in Ireland, and this just dragged on and on.....but finally aftre months of nearly going nuts thinking "happy thoughts" it has paid off - he got accepted!!! Yay!!! We can now start the whole process later than planned but we'll get there through hell or highwater, haha!!!

So our situation as I said so long ago is our only option is if OH went for a 457 visa - not ideal but as we both have no fromal qualifications we can't be assessed for PR, student visa out of the question - neither of us would be able to work more than 20 hrs a wk as I understand it so we couldn't afford it.

Now - OH is awaiting for his CV to be turned into a mighty Resume suited to the Oz jobmarket and so forth - an aussie girl is doing this for us and she's brilliant! I can't praise her enough - once we get settled I'm going to get her to fix mine up too! Dunno if I can put her website up here so I won't but if anyone wants it i'd be glad to pm them.

My question for today is with his cover letter, should he say in it that we are seeking sponsorship? running the risk of them not looking past the letter!! or wait until he as an interview with them? He's going to line up as many interviews he can with as many companies with suitable positions available then go to Melbourne for 2 weeks from 4/5th Aug. People here think we're mad - but no, not mad - just determined! (to get away from the negativity - they love it here!!)

I have'nt been sitting idle either for the past 5 months - I got a removal quotation which I was delighted with and will stand at that price until Dec 09 thankfully, I know where we want to live at - Aunt lives in Thornbury - would like Thornbury - Northcote - Coburg - or Preston, have been looking at houses on realestate.com.au for our price range and we'd be happy with many that are on there. So if anyone on here knows of a definite no-go area in places I would much appreciate a heads-up! I do have my aunt there already and she's been there for 21 yrs now, but I'm laying off pestering her too much until I really need to - we are independant people who don't like to rely much on others or put them out.

Sorry for the super-long post, it's been a while don't you know, haha!!

Thanks for reading!
Trish

Hi trish

welcome back.. most people want PR status before they fix an interview, it wont be an easy task. and with the current market scene it might take long till you find a sponsor

Just wanted to wish you luck

Hi Anj,

Thanks for replying. Yeah, that's the only thing i' worried about. I think i've decided today not to put it on the cover letter. Let him get through the interviews first - see what way they go!

It'll be interesting and bloody nervewreckin!! But hopefully worth it!

I'll keep you posted anyway, and hopefully log in a lot more now!!

Trish
