Default Is my application taking too long?

Hi Dolly, my name is richie i am 28yr old irish guy and i am in the process of getting a visa, a state sponsered visa for victoria, originaly i had skilled migration visa but because of the recession my agent advised me to change it to state sponsered visa, i am getting worried as it is taking very long as i originaly applied last july 16 and was told i would have my skilled visa in febuary . so i moved to south africa to be with my girlfiend in january, she has been accepted in the university in melbourne,on may 5th we married as we wanted to make a commitment to each other that no matter what happens we are still tgether, on april 1st we changed visa to sponsered visa on advise of our agent, it is june now and they are telling me to be patient, is this normal time or are we being taken for a ride, it has been nearly a year now since i first applied, is this taking too long? my wife could bring me as her spouse but her fees are huge, we really want permanent visa as it will ease the fees, we have spwent 4,500 euros on this so far. could you tell what is the work situation in oz is like also.

Hi Richie,

Have you checked the timeline thread? There is a sticky post towards the top of this forum called 'PLEASE READ: Helpful websites for your move to Australia' and that has a link to members time lines for visas.

In that post there are also links to job websites where you can check you job situation.

Regards,
Karen

P.S I moved your post from the other thread since you were asking specific questions not related to that thread.

Hi Richie, just want to wish you luck whatever happens.

Try to be patient, i know that living in limbo is horrible but it isn't an easy or quick application, but you'll get there.

Best of luck to you both

Hi Richie,

Congratulations on your marriage.

What job do you do?

As Karen suggested, have a look at the timeline link to see how long the visa is taking others. This final bit where you've done everything and just waiting for the 'yes' is just awful. Have you checked what's happening with your CO?

Dolly

Hi Richie, just to let you know that we applied for a visa 176 on 29/01/09 and were still waiting for a decision. Everything is passed/met so just need a nice big 'yes' you've got it!!!!. Its mind boggling, just waiting..i think this is the hardest part of the process as its like sitting in limbo with your life on hold. Lets hope we here soon-good-luck.

Towards the top of the forum there are a list of sticky posts with a big yellow star next to them - the last one of those is "PLEASE READ: Helpful websites for your move to Australia" and in there you will find the link to the timelind thread.

Regards,
Karen
