hi david , how long does it usually take as i sent my papers in july last year as a 175 skilled visa but was advised in march to change to a 176 state sponser, does the the months i spent as 175 count for anything, or am i starting from scratch again as i applied on april first for state sponsered visa for melbourne?

Hi mate - I found the best option was to phone the Visa office. I phoned Adelaide this morning (+61 1300 364 613 for outside Oz) at 8.59am oz central time, gave my passport number and was told that no decision would be made until July (I am on a 175). This despite being assigned a CO and final docs (medicals/xrays etc) being submitted on the 19th May and being told at the time an answer would b in in 3-4 weeks. The guy told me it was something to do with the new visa year starting in July (?)... This may not be the same situation for u, but phoning gave me a (kind of) peace of mind. Good luck

we lodged our application March last year. Originally as subclass 175 and changed to state sponsored on February 2009. we were allocated to our CO last April and status changed to MET on June 4.

lets just hope and pray that it will not take that long....

Good Luck for both of us! and hope to see you in Australia soon.

Hi

I am sorry but you did not say if you got the state sponsorship, I think I missed it if you did mention it in your posts.

From what I heard, Victoria has been turning down applications for state sponsorship for no reason even for skill in their list.

The visa processing timeline right now is erratic. No one can say what visa subclass would take how long but once you do have your state sponsorship, it takes 3-6 months to get the visa. the CO is allocated in a month to two months and the rest of the formalities takes anothe couple of months.

I am in the same boat as u. We applied in September 08, applied for ACT sponsorship in April(Mid) and are still waiting to hear from them. Waiting can be a pain

Cheers
and do keep us updated on how things go

ANj
