We arrived in Sydney 4th May now living in "The Shire".
Not quite what I expected .O/Hs commute 30 mins on a good day a bad day an hour plus.He works a lot more hours so at the mo he is always tired.
Miss the army community i.e mess life, friends who are on the same wavelength.
ADF house all services together,Army,Navy,Air Force. From what I have seen so far they do not seem to mix well with each other.
Most housing seems to be miles from units so accessing services for help with various services for wives can be an issue. So for most people you do need 2 cars.
I live over an hour away from the nearest main camp where they run courses on ,how to get into the workplace,C Vs,living with snakes and beasties etc.
I am not trying to put you off but be prepared it is not so easy being a wife.
You are left on your own you have to physically hunt down any help you need.
Hope this helps.

O/H is with 5CSSB Banksmeadow Our kids have grown up and left home.No you will not be grilled they ask you how you will cope without a network of support ,how will your children settle .They are looking at you as a family unit and making sure it is what you all want.On the day your O/H will have a medical, you are both seen by the psychologist and fill in a questionnaire ,you both see the social worker ref schools etc.The doctor talks to everyone as a group .You both talk to the careers officer and the Colonel gives you an outline of the ADF.
The whole day is relaxed and informal.I know nothing I say will calm your nerves just be yourself. It really is not as bad as you imagine.
Good luck and feel free to ask as many questions as you want I will try to answer them all.
