I am afraid it will be lots more paperwork. After the interview your O/H waits for his formal offer. He signs and sends back. Then you wait for the Labour agreement.
You will be sent all the paperwork for your visa fill in and send off with payment
They will tell you when to send medicals and police checks. Then you wait for DIAC to decide if you will get a visa. The ADF have no say over the visa. You pay for everything yourself then claim it back when you get here.
Our interview was August 08 visa March 09 and arrived here May 09.
Our application was straight forward 2 adults ,no medical issues, police checks from 4 countries no problems there either.

Of course you can keep in touch.
One other piece of advice. On the day try to make friends with everyone else. They will become an endless source of information as you progress further on the transfer path.
We have stayed in touch with all the people who were interviewed on the same day as ourselves
We emailed each other with all our ups and downs and supported each other through a few hurdles.
The last couple from our group arrives in Sydney in a weeks time.
Even though we are all spread out around Australia we are all still in contact. It sort of helps on those "off"days we all have.Just knowing you can pick up the phone and they understand how you are feeling.

That great thanks cant wait now though a friend of my hubbys got interviewed aug last year and was there by dec so he went quite quick i suppose its how quick the posting comes though. Do you know what ranks were offerd would be intrested to know and how they fly you across with all your belonging. The one thing that concerns me is what type of quarter we will get as we will not be able to pick being here..

Your furniture is packed up for you and sent ahead of you.Mine left the UK 9th April and we got it 2 weeks ago.You are allowed a certain amount by air freight ours arrived a week after we got here.
DHA housing as a rule is pretty good we had the choice of three. So we only stayed in the serviced apartment for 9 days.
Ranks are a bit awkward.Lets just say of the 5 from our day
2xofficers
3xSNCO
No one kept rank.
