Default Baby visa options

X-Rays Completed 22.05.09
Medicals Completed 05.06.2009
Police clearance dated 05.06.2009

Right guys a few questions if I may.

My wife thinks she is pregnant and if all goes well will have a baby in early February 2010 . We now plan to emigrate in April/May 2010. What are our visa options for our future child?

If we apply for a child permanent visa will Feb to April/May be sufficient time to process it?

Can we get a temp visa (holiday etc) for the child so we can travel out whist this is in process.

Is this possible or will we have to waste much needed finance for a validation trip (if so could I do this on my own without my wife)?

Are there any other options for us?

Many thanks and sorry for a long post

Hi my dear boy. We are in much the same boat. My wife is due August 24 and we are booked to fly out in January 2010. We have already validated our visa and i believe that we have now to apply for one for the new born at such time. Sorry for jumping onto your thread but does anyone know how long this could take?

MyDearBoy,is their any particular reason why you would wait until April 2010,
If your Visa is approved within the next 2 months,it would make sense to travel soon after and the issue for your new baby would be gone,
The baby would also be intitled to Australian citizenship as born in Oz.
If you wait until after the baby is born you then have to get a passport for the baby etc and it could take mths for the visa....

Validation would be a waste,as I guess you all would need to do that

Maybe someone who has been in your situation could tell us ,but I think it could take months after the birth of your baby for visa as a CO would still have to be appointed, and one concern you would have, is as it gets closer to June every year(which is their year end)they slow down or stop processing of visas

Hi Mate

What Visa are u on?

We originally applied for the visa in feb 08 (175). Prior to doing medicals/xrays, we found out my wife was pregnant, due feb this year. We obviously couldn't get an xray for the wife when she was pregnant so we were granted an extension for the required info until May this year. All I had to do was fill out form 1022 - change of circumstances (available on the website), and forward it on. He was then registered on our online application details. He then had to also get the medical done (no xray). This has all been sent, registered as received on the 20th May and told by email an answer would be in 3-4 weeks (now sometime in july apparently).
