Right time??

Hi All,

I've been reading the posts quite regularly and thanks to all the people who have been giving valuable info about immigrating to Oz.

My appcls were recvd by ACS on may-08'08, and this still shows "in process" Is this normal? Added to it, my folks here are getting worried about me processing to Aus during this time due to the attacks. What do you guys think? I'm just getting a lill apprehensive and lill tensed and confused. Can somone gve some info please...

Hi SRN:

The processing time so far is normal for ACS (let it go for another few weeks). But also make sure you keep a watchful eye on your local post as some of their ACS letters were returned by India due to failure to deliver (some of the older forum posts mention this).

I think it is quite normal for your parents to be concerned. But also note that there are many many expats (of asian and non-asian ethnicity) living here for years without any incidence of violence towards them. The only difference now is that there is more media attention to the violence. To me this is a law and order situation and the police need to do their jobs more effectively (that means more foot patrols, swarming problem areas, that sort of thing).

It would be valuable to you and your parents if you could speak with people who are living here and get their opinions on the situation.

Welcome to the forum

ACS gives time frame of 12 weeks for the application to be processed. Wait, incase you do not hear from them in another fortnight, call them.

About the racist attacks, I wouldnt be bothered, its media hyped. There is a thread, Racism in Australia, search for it and you can read people comments on teh same topic.

I personally feel ones safety is in his hands, infact Indians are making things worse by calling AU racist, they are making sure they would be noticed now by one and all.

Dont worry, you will take time to be there, by then everything would be fine

Thanks for the info. I did go thro the timeline thread and found that certain appcls moved to atleast "with assessor" status after a month or so, so i was a lill worried. I guess i'll have to wait. I have been reading many posts in this web for quite a while now , you guys simply rock !! Thanks again !
