I am going for a State Sponsorship with the ACT and I had to get my forms in by the 1st June. Apparently they are stopping processing applications for 6 weeks to clear a backlog. I dont know if this is the same issue.

I was told it came from Canberra head office,so I presume that would cover all State sponsorship etc,
Did your Agent give u any idea how long ACT would take to process?

Wonder if it could have anything to do with financial year end? The new financial year starts July 1st here but that could be a coincidence.

Well,the financial year end is June 30th,so I am Hoping someone out there could confirm this is an annual event and nothing to worry about,
They have already announced their adjustments(reductions) for 2010 so there should not be any shock adjustments on July 1st.
State sponsorship still takes precedent

Sometimes (just like in the UK) one has to say "for now, the ship is full".

My agent said my application would take 6 weeks but I take all dates with a large pinch of salt in this process!

Does this mean that if anyone does not get Visa by 31st June, he will be considered for 2010 (not 2009)

I have applied on 24th April (CSL ,IT). Have status "Application being processed furthur".

Any opinion if I can get CO/Visa for 2009 or not.

Interesting;
we submitted our forms to change to permanent residency on the 3rd of june, on the 5 th june, we had an email from the relevent body to say our application had been lodged and forwarded on to the centre of excellence(whatever that means).

If the quotas are full, why so speedy on the matter?

Our agent also told us 6-8 weeks.........we reckon nearer 12............

When your Agent says 8 weeks,
What does she mean,is it Visa will be approved.
I am also curious to know has your documents status changed from required or o/s to met?
