Default Spouse Visa

Hi
I have submitted my visa application and been assigned a case officer. She has asked me to complete a Form 80 - Personal Particulars for Character Assessment. Is this usual? I don't think I read about it on the initial visa form I filled out. Quite a bit of the information seems to be duplicated in the other forms. She also asked me to confirm if I have registered my daughter as an Australian citizen by descent as I would not need to obtain medical records for her. Although Bernie (her dad) is Australian she has a British passport. We have been told to provide more evidence so will have to start photocopying more bills and accounts! We have lived together for four years and have a three year old daughter.
Thanks Sarah

This is a mandatory form as far as I'm aware.

In the visa booklet (pfd file 1127) it states that form 80 may be requested.
My partner did not need one but lots of people are asked to send one in!

The migration service that we used (mostly online based) said that we had to send in form 80 with our application. This is why I assumed it was mandatory.

We didn't use any agents and just submitted it all ourselves. The form states you only have to send it in if it is requested. And ours was not requested and within less then 2 months we got the visa.

Good luck!

Thank you for your replies.
Have just about finished Form 80. They asked for more proof of living together so am sending utility bills, drivers licences, car and contents insurances etc. The only thing we don't have is a joint bank account! Have decided prob too late to register our daughter for Oz passport by descent so will need to get her medical done. We were hoping to move in early Sept as the tenancy ends for our cotttage then but this might be too ambitious, so Bernie will have to travel back to Australia without us if we dont get the visa in time. Not sure if it is worth letting case officer know that is the situation?

Speak to your case officer. When I submitted my spouse visa application, we hadn't yet applied for our son's citizenship by descent, let alone his passport. I asked my case officer if I should include him on my visa application and then do the citizenship once we were in Australia, and he said no, we should do the citizenship right away. He worked together with the people processing our son's citizenship application to make sure that he got it as soon as possible. We had our son's citizenship certificate, Australian passport and my PR spouse visa in less than two months.

Thanks,
I will highlight this with my case officer when I send off my form 80 and other documents.
