Hi there

just wondering if I am able take up my permanent residency again, how long the process of sponsoring my husband and children for them to join me in Australia, would take ?

Not sure how long I could go without them !

Hi Yve:

There are some recent threads about Spouse visa (do a search on the forum) and I believe I saw a timeline for one of those. It looks like about 2-4 months to get everything sorted. The process is:

1. Re-establish your PR
2. Sponsor your husband on spouse visa
3. Add your kids to your PR visa

BTW if you do establish your PR there are onshore options so that means they can stay with you while the PR is being processed. Your husband will need to wait for his PR before starting work (as they would be on visitor visas until then).

But this all depends on successfully re-establishing your PR.

If you need to do a new PR from scratch then the whole family will go on one application and everyone will get their visas at the same time.

Good luck :)

Be keenly aware of 'place'. With onshore visas you need to be onshore to apply AND onshore to receive the visa, so if your hubby is outside of country make sure the Case officer knows that. If he is in the 'wrong' place then the visa is invalid when granted.

The same is true for offshore visas, you apply for it outside AU and therefore must by outside of AU when the visa is granted. As always keep the CO informed of any travel plans to make sure he/she doesn't grant the visa while you are in the 'wrong' place.

I hope you can get an RRV to re-establish your statuses, a new PR will take 9 months to a 1 year in processing and needs everything done from scratch.

Good luck :cheer2:
