Default Visa Question

Hey all, I'm new to the expat forums and am just starting to explore the possibilities of a life in Oz :-). I've been reviewing the information on obtaining a visa at www_immi_gov_au, and had a question regarding what kind of visa I need to move to Australia, in particularly the Brisbane area of QLD.

I am currently 24, and have just recently graduated university with a major in philosophy. I am currently using the internet to the best of my ability to find work, but assuming that I move before having found a job, is a work holiday visa the best way for me to make my initial entry and then search for an employer that will sponsor a visa for me?

If anyone has any advice on this topic it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, and nice to meet you all.

Christian

How quickly do you want to go i think going over on the holiday visa is a great idea then you can suss every thing out before paying out for a sponsorship visa and then may be deciding you don't like it might happen unlikely though!

you can apply for the other visa while you are there as well so ild deffo use the WHM visa first. get you there much quicker

Hey, I am looking into doing the same thing. I went to uni down there for almost two years and have researched and researched things, and your best option is to go down on the one year working holiday visa and then go from there. They utilize recruitment agencies to the max so depending on your work experience and your degree, you could possibly get sponsored...but luck plays a huge part in it...as i have not got sponsored and am dying to get back down there to live, the only thing you can guarantee yourself is the one year holiday visa and go from there...at the very least, you get an awesome year in Australia. Its amazing...

Hi
If you have no health or character concerns and have previously not held a working holiday visa then you could look at first coming out on a working holiday visa. When you get here you can have a look at other longer-term options.
