How is Perth ?

Hi guys,
Just wondering how everyone is finding Perth at the moment? Any newbees just arrived and settling in ? what are your experiences? Ive been reading some recent threads and wondering if Perth is living up to ur dreams. I know there will be posiives and negatives no matter where you live but I have so much hope for Perth and what it will offer myself and other half. Am i only dreaming?

ps is education poor or just more relaxed and less focused on hammering study into students rather then happy learning and personal development?

I have heard all good things about perth.. The way Australia is, to the rest of the world, far away, they mind their own business, they got nothing to do with the rest of the world and are happy with their surfing and holidays yada yada, similarly perth is to the rest of the australia.. being so far from the main cities like sydney, melb, brisbane etc, they do their own thing and dont bother much with the rest of teh AU..

Perth is AWESOME....I agreed with nanj1976 about Perth being far from the other cities but its only a short sleep on a flight. In terms of Education - like the rest of OZ, Australia is committed to building the Nation and the Education, Industry, sport etc etc are very good especially in this time of economic slow down.. The public Education system is now on par with the private system (my kids are final yrs at private colleges) and there are schools and colleges for specific career and sport paths/streams - so you will get good education. Perth is the wealthiest state in OZ and according to the news this morning will bring even more wealth to the Nation over the next few years...As for the life style, well you have the surf, beaches, wine, huge unspolit country side, sport, theather...Lastly it wont dissappoint - we've been here for 7yrs now.
