Default State Sponsored?

Ok, it looks as though I am 5 points shy of qualifying for a skilled visa. I find that if I go with a state sponsored visa I will get enough points to qualify. So, has anyone on here had to do it this way and what has that meant for you practically? Did you end up in a place you didn't want to go? We have friends in North NSW and would like to end up there but with this new stipulation, I don't know. Thanks for the replies.

Hi John,

Have you done a search on state sponsored? I know that some of our members are going that way but not sure if they've arrived yet.

I believe that Adelaide was the only state capital that was still considered regional so some members were trying for there.

It really depends on what you are looking for initially (I hate big cities for example) and whether you are willing to live somewhere that isn't your first choice for about 2 years.

We moved to a regional area but we did that with a skilled independent visa since that was where we wanted to move to.

Regards,
Karen

Hi there,

Did you take into account the points you'd get from doing the IELTS test? If not, that would give you your needed points to apply for the subclass 175 visa.

Dolly

Manish, if you are in CSL then why do u want to apply for state sponsorship and tie urself with the state for 2 yrs.. the timeframe that CSL application would take and that taken by state sponsored application is more or less teh same..

u have to give asset statement stating u hv sufficient fund to support urself incase u r unable to manage/secure a job. the minimum requirement for the same is 20,000A$ for main applicant and 10,000A$ for each dependent.

Thanks for the info. The reason why i started looking for state sponsorship is this email from processing center
"Priority Application Processing Information

Applications are now being processed as follows:

1. State or Territory Nominated Applications - once the department has
received and approved a nomination from a state or territory authority,
processing of the application will commence within 10 working days of that
approval. Should you need to, please lodge enquiries about your
application via: General Skilled Migration Post-Lodgement Enquiry Form

2. Applications with a nominated occupation on the Critical Skills List
(CSL) - are being processed in date of lodgment order. Information about
the CSL can be found on the department's website at:
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/critical-skills-list.pdf"

May be you are right and I am hurrying a bit...but ppl told be even with CSL it can take 1 yr whereas state sponsorhip is 3 month...

So do I have to attach bank statements/FD reciepts along with this assest declaration statement?

Manish

Manish people wil say what they hear, no one can say anything about the processing time. I know a few December 08 applicants in CSl who have got their visa already and a few Feb 08 applicants who have not.

according to the new timeline, they have to allocate a CO to all applications on CSL by May end-June.

Yes u do need to give proofs. or atleast keep the proofs ready, incase they ask fr it.

everything is so uncertain, there are people who have given a statement by teh CA stating the assets to be X amount and they hv got the sponsorship, without any proofs asked for and then there are some who were asked for proofs.

I am in a soup right now.
my client is at his worst.. making it impossible for me to breath.

I need to arrange my payments, have dilly dallied them fro way too long.. time I act like a super doper B***h and ask for all my pending amount

The forum is more like a break time for me.. tht way i can ask my client to go take a walk while I do my bit

Over that the frustration of application taking so long. we r september 08 applicants.. and I dont see it happening in the near future.

WOW.. life is beautiful..isnt it
