Hi Sydneyfever,

Have you looked through the sticky posts towards the top of the forum? In particular the 'Thinking of Emigrating' and 'PLEASE READ...' posts have some info that may help you.

There is a link to the visa wizard in the 'PLEASE READ....' post and also links to all the visas on the DIAC website where you can see the visa sponsorship rules.

Also check out the ACS links since there are rules that you must comply with for the ACS assessment of your IT skills. That may help you decide which codes apply to you.

Regards,
Karen

Hi there,

You will need to trawl though the ASCO definitions to see where your work experience fits with the associated codes (you need to look at section 223):

1220.0 - Australian Standard Classification of Occupations (ASCO) Second Edition, 1997

Here's the link for family sponsorship:

http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...migration/176/

It states that the applicant has to be related to the sponsor, brother and sister are mentioned but I think that would have to be the sibling of the main applicant (ie you not your wife). Not sure in-laws count. I'm not sure how strict DIAC is these days, so I could be wrong.

I think you'd be wise to check with an agent, their first consultation is usually free without obligation. We have some agents who post on here, SOMV (Veronika) has been a regular poster and you can contact her via her signature in her posts.

Let us know how you get on.

Good luck
Dolly

my husband's profile is the same as u. i think u fit well for cisco pro, network security/firewall specialist or systems manager. the last isnt in MODL, the code for systems manager is 2231-11, the same for network security specialist is 2231-79 (nec) and u wil hv to check the same for cisco one.

now the acs gives u the asco code as according to the work proof u give them. if u really want to bank on the network security bit, since it is on MODL and most states are sponsoring this skill, u will hv to make ur cv according the that skill, stating everything else but highlighting the area which is in the modl.

cheers.

if u fill in one code and if acs feels tht code does not fit for ur skill, they will give u the code themselves.

Default Sponsorship & What is My CSL or MODL Code?????

Thanx for swift response Dolly, Anj , Karen!

Indeed it is very helpful for a new-comer like me in this forum having friends like you guys.
I will definitely bank on that Model one i.e Network Security Specialist is 2231-79 (nec) as in my current posting (Assit Manager IT), i have the responsibilities, you can say Manager Network Security-cum-Network Administrator(Hope you guys get my point). But my current posting is from last 11 months. And i will apply for assessment hopefully when i complete my 12 months. Also plz clear one more point for me that is as due to organization nature i am sure that i w'not get any references (payslips, joining letter not an issue). How i will manage this situation?
.
For Anj: did your hubby applied for ACS? what code he got?

Thanx

he too applied for 2231-79 nec but they gave him 2231-11, systems manager. since u do the same as my OH, i am sure u too will get the same code since u r into more thn just network security. u work more or less as a sys admin i believe.
as for the documents, search for acs in the forum, u will get it all, lots has been written on acs in here. will anyways tell u what all u shud give in. ur payslips, bank statement, co-employees references and their respective business cards, appreciation certificates which basically act as a proof of ur being employed in the company and it has the designation too in it, so it works. any promotion/appraisal letter, ur business card, copy of I-card, joining letter/confirmation letter.
no company gives letters to the employees for visa purpose, so it was an issue with my husband as well. we gave a statutory declaration stating him fearing loosing his job is he asks for the same. the roles and responsibilities too were stated in the stat dec.

and basically everything and anything tht can prove ur being employed in the company and supporting docs for ur CV. like ur educational certs, work documents etc.

Thanx again Anj!

i will do the same as you told.

Again here a question for you what if i get 2231-11, systems manager instead 2231-79 nec, as it will b 50/50 to get that 120 points?
Also what is your program now?

well u can apply fro state sponsorship andtht moves ur application faster and it gives u xtra points as well.
our program.. well, we filed on 19th sept 08.. so all we can do is wait. we had 140 points so state sponsorship too doesnt look like an option, lots of states dont sponsor those with 140 points. dont understand the logic..
