Hi,

I'm confused? If you have already lodged an application for 175 (which gives you PR straightaway) why would you want to change to a student visa (which doesn't)?. I may be wrong but if you've already got a visa application pending I don't think you can apply for another one at the same time.

Is it because you don't want to wait the time it takes to get the 175?

Dolly

Hi Dolly
Thanks for your reply. I have been in application for my 175 for well over a year now. Would like to also get the studies started asap, so thought this may be a quicker route...
Thanks Nikki

You should finish processing the 175, if you got a Student Visa now you'd still have to apply for a PR visa after your studies and starting all the expense and paperwork over again. With a 175 you're done when it's all finished and free to be in AU as a student or whatever you wish. If the processing has been > 1 yr ask your Immigration case officer if they need any other info and when it's reasonable to expect an update about your visa.
