Default Advice for stay in Sydney

Hi my brother is coming to Sydney for a trial position at the University with his wife and three kids, aged 14, 11 and 1o.

They have never visited Australia before. Does anyone have advice and recommendations to make this a great experience? Thanks

I always find Travelodge is decent accommodation. It's clean and basic, but not pricey (at least by SYD standards). There's also the usual International chains and finally backpackers (don't recommend that with kids).

We've visited a couple of times and have found that an apartment works best. We have 3 kids (12,11 and 9) We stay near Milson's Point at Milson Executive Apartments. They are very friendly and, I think, reasonably priced. It's nice because you have a bit more space and a kitchen. I can't post the link to their website, but you should be able to find them if you search 'Milson Executive Apartments'

Thanks for this advice. I was also wondering if there were some don't miss sights and attractions they should make sure they see while in Sydney. And where is good for kids to hang out.

Thanks

We just returned last night from a two week trip. Great things for kids are: Ferry ride! Sydney Wildlife World and Aquarium (in Darling Harbour), Zoo, visit the beach at Manley, Bondi, etc. or go about two hours south of Sydney to Seven Mile Beach. There is a fabulous cliff walk that goes between Bondi and Bronte beaches. It's a windy walk but only takes about 1/2 to 3/4 hour -- depending on how fast you walk. It's fun to walk around The Rocks and Darling Harbour. We bought a Sydney Pass -- good for 3, 5 or 7 days -- that allows you transportation on buses, ferries and trains, and the Sydney and Bondi Explorer busses (worth it because they get you to all the main tourist attractions pretty easily; hop on hop off as many times as you want.) Depending on the kids, the Sydney Harbour Bridge walk might be fun (too scarry for me!) There's lots more things to do and keep them busy, just depends on what the kids are interested in.

So much to do ...but definitely get a ferry acorss the harbour to Manly, have a stroll down at Bondi, its hard with kids depending on what they liek to do, darling harbour always has plenty on but I would suggest you do taronga zoo over at mosman it is way better than the on ein the city, my bother came in from o/s the other month and booked a great short stay place though aholidayhouse.com and you might find something on gumtree.com.au as well

I took my nephew kayaking at Manly (near the ferry terminal) and he LOVED it. He's 8. The Powerhouse Museum is good if the kids are into interesting science. Also recommend a ferry ride to Manly. If you only have time to visit one beach, Manly is better than Bondi. If the kids watch Home and Away, they can go and visit Palm Beach where the series is filmed. There's a day trips section at www.cityhobo.com which might be of use.
