Hi,

I'm an engineer in Canada with a year of experience in the energy/piping industry. My girlfriend and I are thinking of emmigrating to Australia in a year or so. I've read these articles on the cuts to immigration into Australia, but they are saying that engineers are still needed. Does anyone have a good idea of what the job market is like for young engineers with a mechanical background? I'm just wondering how my experience and education will be seen by potential employers in Australia. Any help would be great.

Hi Eric,

I moved your post to a thread of it's own since that post was specific to important government info.....

The only things I can suggest (other than talking to engineers themselves) is contacting any engineer bodies in Oz and also checking out some job websites.
