designer hoping to move to oz (any advice)

Hi everyone,

I am a UK born graphic/multimedia designer looking to relocate with my small family to Australia.

I have a brother who lives in Sydney and i would very much like to live near him, but would happily work anywhere in Australia. I am 34 and my partner is 33 (a qualified hairdresser) and her son (11).

i would appreciate any help that people on this site may have.

so far i have looked into skilled migration, but as i have an HND (higher national diploma) but not a BA in Media, i am not qualified enough, seems 12 years work in the industry doesn't count. I cannot apply for last remaining relative due to a younger brother in the UK (parents have passed away).

Any ideas?

Hi there,

Couldn't your brother in Sydney sponsor you? Skilled – Sponsored (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 176) .

With regard to your work experience etc, as long as you have 5 years relative experience, and pass the relevant skills assessment via VETASSES, you shouldn't have a problem.

As your partner is a hairdresser, and if she is currently working for than 20 hours a week, she could be the main applicant.

I'd suggest you contact an agent as they will be able to give you all your options. We do have a few agents who post on here (SOMV, Alan Collett). You can contact them via their signatures. Alternatively, if you do contact any agent, just make sure they are MIA/MARA registered.

Looks to me like you shouldn't have too much difficulty in obtaining a visa of some sort.
