Cool How much time do you have?

When you apply for Aus Migration 175, and suppose you get it

1. How long do you get to land in Australia before your visa times out and you lose PR.

2. How long you have to stay in Australia and make sure that your PR doesn't expire..

Hey,

1. You have up to one year from when the visa is granted
2. Your PR never runs out. You have it for life. But you have to renew your Resident Return Visa (RRV) every 5 years. If you decide to leave Oz without renewing it and it expires, you run the risk of losing your PR.

Actually, I think it's one year from receipt of either your medicals or police checks (whichever was carried out first).

Thank you for replying. The significance of this time has increased in present scenario especially due to recession. Suppose you have a established job in your native country and you get the Aus visa at time when Aus market is plummeting and you want to postpone your migration.

When we received our skilled independent visa we had a year to validate the visa (as Dolly mentioned it was measured from our medical / police checks) and then we had up to 5 years to move to Australia. Our visa was granted in 2004, we validated the visa ( a trip to Australia) in 2005 and moved here in 2007.

Regards,
Karen

You must plan to pass through immigration clearance upon arrival in Australia before the required initial entry date shown on your visa - or run the very real risk that your visa will be cancelled.

This trip (termed visa validation) can be simply for a holiday. It need not be the permanent move to Australia.

Best regards.

Thanks folks. That was quite informative. Just a small question, How long that holiday has to be? Can you just come for 1 week on a holiday, have my initial entry approved and then come back as a actual migrant after a year.

Thanks.

So long as you clear immigration on arrival in Australia you don't have to leave the airport ... though that would clearly be quite a waste of money ...

Best regards.
