Default Studying in Brisbane

Hello

I know this might be a long shot but here goes

I due to come over to Brisbane in Feb 08 to learn cabinet/furniture making at one of the Tafe's for International students. I was wondering if there has been anyone else who has gone over on a student visa who could give me some good information ie.. pro's & cons

I've been told that I can work for a maximum of 20 hours a week during term time & full time in the holidays. Is bar work easy to come by in Brissy?

Thanks alot

Joe

Hey Joe 67, what the hell was that last reply all about ey? Was that supposed to be funny? Though your reply made me chukkle!

Sorry i don't know much about student visa's, but what the heck ey, go for it, only a year or two of your life init! If it doesn't work out so what, and as far as bar work goes, wouldn't imagine theres's any problem there being a big city.

Good choice of career move i say, cabinet/furniture making. Make a fine fortune if you're any good.

All the best in your travels and good luck

Hi Scottishcelts

No it wasn't supposed to be funny. Just thought the reply was amusing lol..

It's a 2 year course & having being to Brisbane before & absolutely loving it, I thought why not. I was on working holiday visa the last time, but didn't actually work in Brissy so just wondered how easy it was to find jobs.. But like it said, being a city it should be ok

Cheers for the reply SC & hail hail

Joe

We are off to Brisbane ourselves in September permanently!!!................well hopefully! Never been to Australia before, just going to turn up and take each day at a time, hoping never to return to the UK. Will miss Bonnie old Scotland of course and Celtic of course too!

Take care

Well I hope you finally get to make your move over there. I was in Brisbane for only 4 months but loved every minute of it.

What made it even more special for me with a place called O'Malleys. If you find your missing the BHOYS back home this little celtic supporters club will make you feel a whole lot better with the occasional Charlie & the bhoys blasting out (but shhh on that one ..lol)..Even simon Lynch is a member.

Just type in Brisbane csc on a search engine. Wouldn't let me give the actual address

All the best

Oh yes will just have to be going there! Luv Charlie & the Bhoys, got them as ringtones on my fone! Might even slip O'Malleys a few of our 'homemade cd's' if you know what i mean.

Cheers Joe, Tiocfaidh

Cheers dragonflyblu.. Thats good news about the job situation. While you were there did you have your own place or did you share with other folk. Just wondered how easy it would be to find & how expensive?
