Hi my wife and i plus 10year old are also thinking of going out to brisbane, i am a self employed plasterer of over 20 years exp however not got nvq qualifications which is needed to get in therefore hve to do that here first anyhow the missis is a nurse so maybe we could go on her visa. I ll get to the point though while plasterers are on the sol list when looking for jobs i havent really seen much which is a bit scary if we move out there and cant find work, it will be much appreciated if you can let me know how your luck runs when you go out there and if there is any work for plasterers are boarders. Thanks

hello, I am a bricklayer and have just started making enquires about emigrating to Australia. I am nearly 45 and will have to take a Vettasses paper and practical skills test. I just wondered if you have done one and if so if you could give me any information about what it entails. I will also have to take an English test to gain the necessary points. Any advice you could give me would be appreciated.
Good luck in getting employment over there.
Thanks, Dale.

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum.

Just to let you know (if you didn't already), the cut off period for applying for a 175 Skilled Independent is 45.... once you've hit that age you will have to opt for another visa sub class.

Dolly
