Hi,

I've just got back from Australia after a year on a working holiday visa. I had the most amazing time and am looking for a way back. I was looking into studying but don't want to study something and then not be able to apply for permenent residency afterwards. My dad is now an Australian Citizen, I don't even know if that helps!

Does anyone know of some good sites that could help me out a bit. The immigration website's great but not really helping me figure out whether i'd be eligible for permenent residency after doing a diploma. People keep talking about a points test?! I haven't managed to find a site that gives me an independent one I can do.

Also, to completely change the subject, does anyone know if you have to pay for your TAFE fees all up or whether its a pay by term arrangement?!

As you can probably tell, my head hurts from thinking about the whole thing! I just want to get back!!!

Thanks for any help you can give me!!

Welcome to the forum dear Sophie.

- If your dad's a citizen, then he can sponsor you without needing your education assessed and all the points tests.
- If you want to apply on your own, you need to have your skills assessed by relevant authority.
- You need to have required amount of work experience in order to apply for immigration.

Clicking this link will tell you how much points you need and for which subclass.

Here is a list of professions for migrants. Click here.

You need to have at least 3 posts in order to active your private message box. Then over there we can talk in details and I could refer you some websites which could prove to be helpful.

So, if you need further assistance, you're more than welcome to post here

Cheers!

Hi Sophie,

Welcome to the forum.

You can find links to the governments points test in the 'PLEASE READ.....' post at the top of the forum, and also the government visa wizard website. That has the most common visas on it but not all the visas.

And you need FIVE posts to activate your messages (not 3 as previously stated), however please keep as much info as possible on the forum that way we can all share and learn.

Regards,
Karen

I've mentioned in the other posts that it's 5 posts to activate your private message box.

If you have some other websites (ones that are not mentioned in the sticky threads at the top of forum) then let me or Dolly know and we'll take a look. If they are suitable then we can add them into the correct post at the top of the forum. We like to keep the links together so it's easier for members to find what they are looking for.

When possible we like info to kept in plain sight so that we can all share and learn.

Regards,
Karen

Hi there,

If your dad is an Australian citizen or has permanent residency and you are under 25 then he can sponsor you. This visa will give you permanent residency straight away

Child Visa (Offshore) (Subclass 101)

I'd actually run it by an agent just to make sure it's the right visa for you....we have agents who post on here and you can contact them via their signatures - SOMV, pc, Liana Allen, Alan Collett.

Let us know how you get on.

Dolly

Thanks for the advice! There is a childs visa but to qualify for that id have had to have been dependent on my dad for the past year. Considering I live with my mum in the UK and pay for everything for myself we didnt think that'd work! So i've decided to do a TAFE course, which gives me 2 years and hopefully i'll have enough points to apply for a visa on my own merits at the end. Once again, thankyou for all of ur help.
