Post Sheetmetal Work(Tradesman)

HI I'm new to this but here goes...
I am looking for "employer sponsorship"
I am a time served sheet metalworker, CAM prgramming skills, CAD/CAM experience, CNC Punching and press experience.
I qualify easily on the points system.
What i would like is to gain employment before moving myself and family out to Aus, can anyone help or point me in the right direction.

Thanks all

Hi Phil,

As Synthia mentioned read the sticky posts towards the top of the forum - especially the 'PLEASE READ....' post since it has a link to the Critical Skills list.

This week the migration rules for Australia and you need to check that you are on the critical skills list (CSL). If your profession is on the list then you will be more likely to get sponsorship and the new rules seem to give preference to those with sponsorship (either employer or state sponsorship).

It's tough to get a job before you get a visa unless your skill set is in demand and you get sponsorship - most agencies won't even look at your CV if you don't have a visa to work here.

Regards,
Karen

Hi, thanks for replying, yes me trade is on the (CSL) i am time served with over 18 years experience.
I know that certain companies will sponsor people, i just wondered how i would go about finding work or sponsorship before i up sticks and move out to Aus?
Is there anyone i could contact about this matter? or would i have to approach companies direct?

Hi Phil,

I hope you saw that I removed your CV.

There is a link in the 'PLEASE READ....' post a website that an agent mentioned for finders sponsorship. There are some companies that may help but we didn't go that way so I don't have any personal recommendations. Some agents can help you find a job but I don't know if that's a separate service from getting the visa.

Some people have find sponsorship from companies at Expos - there are several each year in the UK if you do a search in a search engine.

Regards,
Karen

hey there,

I am a pressure vessel inspector/plant inspector. Maybe you should try companies like Clough, Transfield, Monadelphous, Downer eng. These are a cpouple of the big engineering firms. Just give it a go. Maybe even BHP Billiton or Rio Tinto. Also in WA there are companies like Woodside(Oil and Gas) Alcoa( Alumina) and I know there is heaps expansions and projects going on in Gladstone( about 500km north of Brizzy) Gladstone is a very industrialized area, and most people live a bit away and trvel for work but the work there is going off. Think Rio and BHP are main companies there( this is only what I hear) but the work is really going of there. Got a friend doing inspections on big projects there. So look into that perhaps. It might be a start into the country or you might enjoy. Good luck

Good luck
