Default Where to get Copies Certified for ACS Assesment in US

Hi,

I am applying for ACS Assesment and would like to know where I can get certified copies of my degree and marksheets in USA?

Some people have just uploaded color scanned copies and they were also accepted. Is that true?

Thanks

Hi ravi.svce,

according to the submission guidelines ACS requires certified copies while DIAC accepts color scans as well. However, some people successfully completed ACS assessment although they only uploaded color scans. Others got a mail from ACS that they needed to submit certified copies... it depends on the processing officer, I guess.

Details: Section 4 (page 6) of the ACS Skills Assessment Guidelines for Applicants

To be safe, I would get a batch of certified copies as requested. Those might also come in handy later, if you ever need to submit your documents in paper to an Australian government agency or want to rent a flat etc.

Where to get certified copies in the U.S.:

In most states you can get them from a notary public (except Connecticut and only for certain documents or with a written request in Michigan, Oregon, Texas, West Virginia, Colorado and Utah). Alternatively, you can also request an official company from the agency/school/bureau that initially issued the document. Maybe some U.S. expats can provide additional information...

All the best,
Monika

You can get your documents certified by the manager of your local bank branch. Usually if you're a customer they will notarize your documents for you without charge. If that's not an option, try your local UPS branch (every one has a notary). They'll charge a fee.

Note that some states - Texas comes to mind, but there are others - do not permit notaries to certify documents issued by governments and organizations outside of the state.
